Two music-related posts for the price of one!

13 June, 2008

Firstly, Radiohead have been performing a brand new song during their tour. It’s pretty damn good. In other news, In Rainbows is probably my favorite of their records at this point, with or without the online gimmick.

Secondly, the late music pioneer Tony Wilson — the only well-known person besides Hunter S. Thompson and Joe Strummer whose death really upset me — is being honored with a 24-hour marathon in Manchester starting June 21. Guests include Peter Hook, Peter Saville, and Steve Coogan. Hopefully there will be some kind of broadcast. For more info go to this site. For those of you who don’t know him, Wilson helped start the new wave and house movements in Manchester and beyond. Without his influence, popular music would’ve never been the same. He is an unsung hero to most of the world and if you care about music you owe it to yourself to check him out.

RIP. You are sincerely missed.
