Reason Why The MPAA Should Be Abolished, No. 237.

25 July, 2008

In 1980, Stanley Kubrick’s trailer for The Shining caused a bit of controversy because of its use of the iconic “blood pouring out of the elevator” shot, since you allegedly cannot show blood in trailers. But at least that complaint made a morsel of sense. But The A.V. Club explains why the MPAA has hit a new low in its ongoing quest for political correctness.

This way, if anyone from 1903 watches the trailer, instead of ducking and/or running for their life, they’ll just drop their bowler hat, curl up into a ball, rock back and forth, and mumble into their shirtwaist, “What world is this? What is happening to me? Where am I?”
